The new flagship of the G-Steel family, model GST-B200, has a thickness of 14.5 mm. All this pales in comparison to the record-thin case thickness of the new Edifice series watches: for the EQB-1000 it is 8.9 mm – even though the previous model had the 13.1 mm. The key to this success was the reduction in the thickness of the body from 4.93 to 3.52 mm. It is as much as 30%!
Casio engineers fought for literally every hundredth of a millimeter. Among the main design decisions should be called: – placement of all electronic components on one side of the circuit board; – improvement of the integrated circuit, which allowed to reduce the number of parts of the Bluetooth module; – A new way to install the battery; – reducing the thickness of the gear elements; – More compact plant system design.
At the same time, the functional saturation of the new watches was not affected at all. They are equipped with a solar battery and a module for communicating with a smartphone via Bluetooth and a special application, as well as a smartphone search option. Four times a day, the current time is adjusted by the radio signal. So, the clock can be considered absolutely accurate.
Among the functions, in addition to the arrow indication of hours, minutes and seconds, are a calendar (date and day of the week), a chronograph with an accuracy of 0.001 seconds (the measurement results are also displayed on the smartphone screen), world time in 300 cities, an alarm clock, and a memory of 200 travel time laps (Edifice watches are indispensable for racing drivers, members of their teams, judges, commentators, “advanced” fans), an indication of the time of the last lap. A unique display on the dial also shows the difference between the time of the previous lap and the previous one.
The case is made of steel, its diameter is 45.6 mm, and the thickness, as already noted, is 8.9 mm. The watch assembly (on a steel bracelet ) weighs only 130 g. The case is water-resistant to 100 m. The glass is sapphire, and the dial (on the EQB-1000D-1AER model) is equipped with Neobrite backlight.
