The brand is proud of its heritage and belonging to the “Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry.” Today, Tissot watches are manufactured a wide range of models and are true Swiss clock: made in Switzerland and bear the label “Swiss Made”  on the watch dial. According to Swiss law, a watch must be assembled in Switzerland and have a Swiss movement, in order to qualify as a Swiss watch.

History of Tissot company

Tissot started since 1853, it was created by a farmer Charles Felisenom Tissot and his son Charles-Emile, the basis of this outstanding business lies in the town of Le Locle. The first work of the new Tissot Watch Company were simple farmers, in winter they had very little work and that it was something to do, but also to earn extra money, participated in the assembly hours. Soon, on the basis of the already established workshop, there was a small shop selling hours.

In 1858, Charles-Emile Tissot, left for Russia to demonstrate its products, which he managed superbly. He achieves the rank of official supplier of pocket watches for the Imperial Court. The young Russian businessman spent a long 16 years, which was not in vain. Soon the clock becomes known throughout Europe and even America. In 1904, the Swiss brand Tissot launches “Royal Hours” for officers of the Imperial Guard stamped with engraved imperial regiments.

For a long time all the work on manufacturing Tissot carried out manually, but the time has come to expand production. So in 1920, the workshop became a factory with modern equipment for the production of the mass-produced pocket watch.

Soon, after the increase in production, Tissot have had difficulties with the sale of goods. To protect the company from the crisis, it was decided to create a joint production of Omega and Tissot. Then the producers shared markets: Omega chose the very top of the entire watch market and Tissot stopped in the middle of the way, it turned out to be the most profitable. This distribution scheme used before the Second World War.

In wartime, the company makes Tissot watches for the military market. Reliable and affordable chronographs with broad arrows popular with captains of British submarines.

Tissot brand is present in the history of the sport. He got his share of fame by participating in some of the major sporting events: Tissot associated with the Davis Cup in 1957 as a timekeeper, and in 1938 took part in alpine skiing in Switzerland. Currently, the company Tissot is the official timekeeper for various sporting games: cycling, ice hockey, and other species. All of these sports require the highest reliability and accuracy; they have confirmed the superiority of the company Tissot.

In 1985, the company entered into Tissot “Swatch Group”. From this year, it is characterized by the power company, located in 140 countries around the world.
